Chapped lips.

The past few days I have been sick, sick, sick! I can't breath through my nose, and it has been really hard on my poor lips.  They became chapped pretty quickly and I had a bit of trouble finding a balm or chapstick that worked.

I started out with Softlips, applying it regularly.  However, I felt that it absorbed rather quickly and then left my lips feeling tight.  Next up, Burts Bees in the Replenishing variety.  Normally I LOVE this chapstick, but in this instance it was not nearly tough enough to do the job. The same goes for Baby Lips.

I had given up hope. I was in the pit of despair. My lips were doomed to eternity of hopeless crustiness.

THEN, my mom suggested Carmex.  *Angels singing*

This little sucker is the bomb dot com. All that jazz. The greatest thing since sliced bread. All that and a bag of chips.

I'm tellin' ya.

It made my lips feel soft in a short amount of time and even after it wore off they did not go back to their cracked state instantly.  This stuff is a life saver! With this being cold/sickness season, I felt that I had to share!

If you're under the weather, I hope you feel better soon! And if you're not, TAKE SOME EMERGEN-C!!!!

**let me be clear I love all of the lip treatments in this post, however under extreme circumstances I found Carmex to be best.

A Very Velvet New Years Eve!

So, it's New Years Eve. This is exciting and terrifying all at the same time.  2012 is over (we survived!) and I can't really imagine how that happened.  I look back and think of all the fun I had and mistakes I made, and to be quite honest, it would not change a thing about this past year.  Things have a way of working themselves out, everything happens for a reason, and God is good.  I firmly believe those things, and I am excited as I head into this next year to see what is in store for me.

I am a senior in high school, so 2013 will be the official start of the next chapter of my life.  I will be auditioning at colleges, hopefully receiving a few acceptance letters, graduating, and living on my own for the first time.  Honestly, this is just plain exciting.  I think of myself as an optimist, and I can't seem to muster up too much worry over everything because I have a plan, and most importantly God does, no matter what.  My mom is supper supportive of me and I know with full confidence that things will happen the way they're meant to.

Alright, enough with talking about the new year, lets talk about FASHION and MAKEUP. Yes? Yes.

New Years Eve is the time when I wear what I secretly wish I could every day without anyone thinking I took myself too seriously.  I wear dramatic makeup and the cutest outfit I can get together.

This year I did a purple smokey eye with a light berry/nude lip.

Products used: NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Purple Velvet , NXY 10 Eyeshadow pallet in 07 Versus, Maybelline Dream Mouse blush in Pink Frosting, Boots highlighting lotion, E.l.f. dramatic false eyelashes, L'Oreal Infallible eyeliner in Carbon Black, Tarte Lip Stain/Gloss in Berrylicious

For Christmas I had received this velvet black dress from Forever 21 and had been saving for this very occasion. I also wore black tights (Target) and black combat boots (American Eagle). Edgy and girly. Me.

Accessory wise I wore a simple necklace that my aunt had given me previously and earrings from a local boutique that remind me of the ball they drop in Times Square. Perfect for New Years Eve, I think.

That's it! I hope you had a great New Years Eve and that this year is better than the last!
